Coaching is a passion I’ve had since I can remember, even before I had my son and daughter. I like coaching baseball because it’s a game like non other. There’s highs and lows in the game like in life. You have good streaks and bad streaks and like in life, the only way for one to get out of a bad streak is through hard work and a positive mind set. Positive thoughts bring positive outcomes.
I consider myself more of a mental coach and try and help build mental strength. The game for kids should still be a game and should still be fun. In today’s age the game is changing and there is more pressures than ever before, I believe. Self-Pressure, Crowd Pressure, Pressure from parents yelling, so many outside variables that can affect a players ability to function at the top of their game.
I as a coach just try and help re-enforce players minds with positive thoughts, and try helping them clear their minds and focus on the game. Helping them tune out outside distractions. I teach the game of life into the game of Baseball. If these kids can take anything I’ve told them to help them later in life and pass it forward, I’ve done my job as a Coach. Just paying it forward to all the coaches I’ve had throughout my sports life. Any players I’ve ever coached I consider one of my own. It’s going to be fun to see all these players grow up to be men and see what where life leads them.
