Rookie was born in Las Vegas, NV on November 30th, 2007 to Darren and Rachel Shepard. Rookie is the 4th child of 5.
Rookie started playing baseball at the ripe age of three. When Rookie first picked up a baseball bat, he immediately gravitated to the left side of the batter’s box. Being that he was right-hand dominant, his parents would place him on the right side of the batter’s box, and he would always relocate to the left side. His parents had enough baseball knowledge to keep him on the left side and the rest is history.
Rookie started playing Coach pitch for his local Little League team at the age of four. Rookie remained in Coach pitch until the age of six then made the move to competitive baseball.
During Rookie’s time in Little League, he made the All-Star team every year that he was eligible. Rookie has played up one year in competitive baseball except for his league age 12 and 13 seasons. Locally, he plays 14 and 16U baseball.
Rookie’s hard work ethic has been rewarding and he has received several accolades for his performance on the field. Rookie has been named All-Tournament at several Perfect Game events and was selected to play in the inaugural 12U Perfect Game Select Fest in 2020.
Rookie takes his craft seriously and trains 4 days per week working on strength, agility, cardio, hitting, and fielding.
Outside of baseball, Rookie has also played football since he was six years old. Rookie is a 4.0 student and takes a great deal of pride in his academic achievements.
